Linton Collection – 28 North Bridge Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Linton Collection – 28 North Bridge honestly feels like stepping into one of those boutique hotels you’d find tucked away in London or Paris. The building itself sits right on North Bridge — and I mean right on it — so you’re literally in the thick of Edinburgh‘s Old Town from the moment you arrive. It’s a four-star property that doesn’t try too hard to impress, but somehow manages to anyway with its understated elegance and that perfect location that couples seem to absolutely love.

Location That Actually Matters

You know what’s great about this spot? You can walk to basically everything without feeling like you need a map or taxi. The Royal Mile is right there, Edinburgh Castle looms overhead, and Princes Street shopping is just across the bridge. I mean, you’re literally standing where Old Town meets New Town — it doesn’t get more central than this. The location score of 9.8 makes total sense when you realize you can stumble back from a late dinner on the Royal Mile in about three minutes.

The Room Experience

The rooms here are what I’d call “thoughtfully designed” rather than flashy. They’ve clearly put money into the beds because honestly, I slept better here than I have in some five-star places. The room I stayed in had this lovely view of the Old Town’s rooftops, and there’s something magical about waking up to those ancient stone buildings and church spires. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and you’ll find those little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need — proper lighting for getting ready, enough outlets, that sort of thing.

The Neighborhood Feel

What I love about staying here is that you’re not in some tourist bubble. Sure, you’re surrounded by attractions, but you’re also where locals actually work and live. There’s a Tesco just down the street for grabbing snacks, proper pubs that aren’t just tourist traps, and that authentic Edinburgh atmosphere where you hear bagpipes drifting up from street performers on Princes Street. The Old Town can get busy during festival season, but even then, you feel like you’re part of the city rather than just visiting it.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it gets the fundamentals right without any unnecessary fuss. The staff seem to actually know Edinburgh and can point you toward the good restaurant spots that locals frequent, not just the obvious tourist places. The building has character — you can feel the history in these old Edinburgh stones — but the amenities are thoroughly modern. It’s the kind of place where you’d bring your parents or plan a romantic weekend, and everyone would be happy. Plus, with that location rating, you really can’t go wrong if you want to experience Edinburgh properly.

Edinburgh’s hotels showcase salt-and-stone spas, rooftop hot tubs, and chef’s tables celebrating Highland larder.
